Ready to breathe some new life into your kitchen? Starting with an Interior Designer on your kitchen remodel is the perfect opportunity to create flow, function, and add vibrant colors into your kitchen. Whether you're wanting a bold statement or subtle accents, together we’ll explore some colorful inspirations for your next kitchen remodel.

1. Bold Cabinet Colors to Make a Statement

Opting for bright and bold cabinet colors can completely change the mood of your kitchen and draw others in to gather. There are a few different ways to inject color by painting your existing cabinets or color staining custom cabinets. These different methods bring energy into your space, making it lively and inviting.

For even more added creativity and boldness, consider two-tone cabinetry. Imagine the upper cabinets in a soft color paired with lower cabinets in a striking or moody hue. This contrast creates visual interest but also draws the eye downward, making the kitchen feel more expansive (great tip for small kitchens!). Remember that mixing colors requires some thoughtful design. Choose shades that harmonize, so that the overall effect is cohesive.

2. Small but Mighty- Backsplash Designs

Add some creativity and texture to your kitchen through a tile backsplash. From colorful zellige  tiles to fun geometric patterns, tile is a key player for adding personality into the kitchen. A backsplash can be a small area, but don’t underestimate its big impact—especially when you choose unique designs. For instance, consider a bright jade or a rich terracotta that complements your cabinets but stands out to draw eye-catching attention.

As you consider your options, think about how different finishes and textures can enhance the overall design. Think terracotta, ceramic, zellige clay, glazed, and matte to add in something different and unique. Playing with colorful or textured tile adds life and personality to what could otherwise be a simple, utilitarian space.

3. Wallpaper Always Wins

Wallpaper always adds a bold and playful statement to any space! But high humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens can be a tricky place to add wallpaper. While many shy away from wallpaper in kitchens due to moisture concerns, there are now many durable, washable options available.

One of our favorite ways to add in wallpaper is to define a dining nook, adding a touch more personality and definition to the space. Really the pattern and color options are endless when it comes to adding wallpaper. In a recent kitchen remodel design project, we added a fun and colorful beetle wallpaper to a families’ dining nook area! Choosing wallpaper is a fun opportunity to express your personality—don't be afraid to go for quirky prints or vibrant colors that resonate with you.

If you are feeling a little less bold than colorful beetle wallpaper, consider using wallpaper in a subtle tone, perhaps a soft naturescape or a muted geometric print, both can add dimension without overpowering the kitchen's other elements.

4. Yes to Unique Art & Decor

Sometimes simple styling with a few vibrant accessories like colorful pots, rugs, or art brighten up your kitchen big time. We personally love adding in vintage art and international pottery to open shelving or in nooks.

These decor accents can finish telling the story of the overall kitchen design, bringing together any wallpaper, tile, and bold paint colors we used.

5. The Right Color Palette for Cohesion

Let’s be real, some kitchen remodels can leave you with a blank generic neutral kitchen. A bright and bold kitchen can bring creativity and joy, but can also bring about a feeling of disorder when done wrong. That’s why choosing a cohesive color palette ensures that your kitchen feels intentional. Balancing bold hues with neutral tones for a well-rounded look that won’t overwhelm. If you choose a bright cabinet color, consider balancing it with soft neutrals elsewhere. This method ties all the vibrant elements together harmoniously and allows each piece to shine without competing for attention.

Taking the time to plan with a designer will help you create a kitchen that feels both consistent and inviting, while still showing off your unique style.
